Get out and about this summer and make a trip to one of the green festivals – kids are welcome, too

The Big Tent – Scotland’s largest eco festival
Set in Falkland, near Fife last year’s festival featured Glasgow’s Attic Lights, described as the next big indie-rock band, but the main premise is to promote a community feel with something for everyone. The Guardian described it as ‘devoted to music, art and all things green, it’s a veritable feast for the folky heart.’ This year, it takes place 23-25 July.

WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance)
Not strictly eco, but it brings artists together from all around the world to celebrate music, arts and dance in its many different forms. As well as several different stages, there are workshops on offer so you can learn about the artists and their music for adults and children. Held in Charlton Park, Wiltshire from 23-25 July.

Border Green Festival
Exploring and celebrating all that makes modern life sustainable with live music, food, exhibits, arts and crafts, the Border Green Festival is held in Berwick upon Tweed. It features many different types of music from folky punk, finger picking blues to African drummers, as well as workshops and activities. The sixth annual festival will take place on 4 July.
