It's perhaps the biggest adventure of your life - deciding to move the whole family and start a new life abroad.

Yet there are many of us who are tempted and more are giving it a go. As I know from presenting Start a New Life it can be done and it can be a huge success - maybe the best decision of your life.

But there are worries, there are questions and there are uncertainties. I like to help with those problems, to reassure and find solutions.

And now in this magazine, with the help of some leading travel, finance and property writers I can offer some in-depth advice that you can turn to if you decide to make the move.

You'll learn about different places in the world, what they offer and what you need to know if you decide to live there. This magazine is for those who want to give it a go and for those who want to add some colour to their daydreams.

The world is getting smaller, the opportunities for starting a new lifesomewhere else are more and easier to take than ever before but it still takes courage. And as my mantra goes - you need help and advice. Information is vital to the success of any move.

It is easy to get carried away with the idea and rush into it. Take a deep breath, take your time and get it right.

The sun on holiday may always seem brighter but it can stay that way if you plan your move carefully. With the help of the right experts being called upon at the right time it can be an awfully big adventure and the start of something special.

Read and enjoy.

FOREWORD with SCOTT HUGGINS

Although there are still many emerging property markets, investors now have to look further east to ex-communist countries and beyond to places that often provide high returns but are difficult to research.

Not only that, there is a growing breed of investors moving in on those sort of places and a golden rules is this: if you are following the herd - then more likely than not the opportunity has gone.

On the whole the big foreign markets have followed the same pattern as the UK, so investors now have to be even more adventurous. The best places for returns are often more obscure countries, such as Turkey, and in three years time it will be some place we haven't even heard of yet.

Opportunities seen in ex-communist countries such as the Czech Republic were unique to their historical context, with such instant growth unlikely to reappear.

Communism was holding back the economy in these countries and as soon as it collapsed there was money to be made. The early movers made a killing by recognising that the country had removed communism for good and was applying for EU membership. There were property syndicates who bought factories in the Czech Republic for £20,000 in the early 1990s and have now seen them increase in value to around £2m or £3m.

For me helping people is a job and a pleasure. I can see there is a real gap in the market for people who want impartial advice outside of saturated markets such as Spain and France.

I decided to provide an information service for clients with money but no time. I spend my time looking for projects that meet the investmentcriteria, which are that they are high yielding and low cost in a market with a few years' growth ahead of it.

In this magazine, with the help of some leading property and travel writers we take a look at the markets, and what you need to know and what you need to plan. The whole world
