lk2What better way to see in 2012 than celebrating the honour of an OBE. Not only is our fabulous guest editor the queen bee of ITV, she's now an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Toasting the news with a cocktail on the beach in Bali, the cheerful Scot said: 'I am so thrilled and deeply honoured. It was a wonderful surprise. I am very lucky to be able to help some amazing charities which really make a difference.'

Never one to take a responsibility lightly, Lorraine has been deeply involved with the work of many charities, including Poppyscotland, Freedom From Fistula and the Muscle Help Foundation, in the past. She's also a celebrity patron of the Association for International Cancer Research, and was made honorary colonel of the Black Watch Army Cadet Force in 2009.

Barely having a moment to catch her breath, 2011 also showed Lorraine taking part in the 100km BT Red Nose Desert Trek in Kenya, which raised money for Comic Relief.

Despite this superwoman reputation, lovely Lorraine is as humble as ever. Her weekly schedule sees some of the world's biggest celebrities gracing her sofa, yet she prefers being at home in Scotland with husband, Steve Smith, and their 18-year-old daughter, Rosie.

'Much as I like talking to the likes of Colin Firth on television, the highlight of my week could be taking Rosie on the school run or walking our dog, Rocky, on the beach with Steve'.
