Beyoncé and Jay-Z top the Forbes rich list
With America’s music power couple rising to the top of the esteemed publication’s annual report, see who else has bumped up their bank balance or lost a million dollar bill or two.
If you’re having career doubts making it in the music industry seems to be the most fruitful job prospect going. Proven by pop star power couple Beyoncé Knowles and Jay Z who raked in a whopping £49.7million shared pay packet over the last year.
Qualms about going on maternity leave were put to bed for the couple, whose joint wage trumped other couples on the Forbes rich list despite the fact Beyoncé has hardly worked since the birth of their first child Blue Ivy, in January.
Lucky for her the royalties of her non-music business ventures have continued to boost her bank balance. Beyoncé’s clothing line House of Deréon is just one strand of her Knowles enterprise contributing to her personal income of £25.5 million.
Husband Jay-Z, meanwhile, has hardly been seen without a microphone this year. His joint sell-out Watch The Throne tour with fellow rapper Kanye West meant the star brought home an additional £24.2 million to the super couple’s sum.
But what about the other prestigious places on Forbes’ annual wage calculator? Second place was grabbed by the world’s highest paid model Gisele Bündchen and her husband Tom Brady whose combined earnings came in at an estimated £45.9 million.
David and Victoria Beckham continue to fly the flag for Britain in the wealth stakes. The couple have jumped up a place from last year and now sit third on the Forbes list. The publication attributes most of the couple’s £34.4 million to David’s numerous endorsement deals and his two-year contract with football team LA Galaxy.
Victoria’s fashion line should not be forgotten about though, as it takes in annual sales of over £25.5 million. The continual royalties from her days as Posh Spice also bumped up VB’s contribution to the Beckham household. And with the girl band having just signed a deal on the upcoming Spice Girls musical, her pop star background is set for another very fruitful year.
And if you think Forbes have missed off one of Hollywood’s power couples, don’t worry. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie sit pretty at fourth place with £28.7 million. Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith are fifth, meanwhile, with £25.5 million.
