Get fit Bollywood-style
Zumba, Bokwa and now Bollywood? Fitness dance classes inspired by the success of the Bollywood film industry have been popping up all over the country. The perfect get-fit for those seeking something a bit different from their usual workout.
Following in the footsteps of the film industry, Bollyfit – as the dance class is known – is a combination of Asian dance and cardio workout, all danced to an array of Bollywood and Banghra music. The idea originated in Toronto, Canada, devised by Reshmi Chetram. But now, after Zumba and Bokwa proving such hits in the UK, Bollyfit has made its way here!
The term Bollywood, is generically used to refer to the Indian film industry; with Bhangra used to refer to the traditional music and dance from Punjab in India. The music which guides the classes is a significant part of the Bollyfit classes, transporting participants into the energy of the Bollywood films.
A great get-fit class for those who enjoy the routines of the Bollywood films but don’t necessarily want to learn the detailed choreography, Bollyfit combines Asian culture and music with a fun fitness programme. If it sounds of interest, expect to get your shoulders shrugging and your hips shaking.
