Find out how Mum on the Run is coping juggling two children under five and working on a national magazine as deputy editor, which to honest, is a welcome break in her hectic week...
A lump in my throat, tears pricking behind my eyes, trembling lips…it can only mean one thing in my world – children singing ‘Away in a Manger’. Even writing the words makes me well up. It was my daughter’s school nativity play where I had to undergo this annual trauma.
Whoops-a-Daisy Angel it was called and my daughter was a dancing angel, complete with a silver tinsel halo and draping tinsel from her wrists. One fell off half way through but it didn’t dim her enthusiasm, which was palpable even from my dodgy postion half way back, stuck behind a 6ft 5 elderly gentleman wearing a hat – that he refused to take off.
She saw me as soon as she got on the stage and waved vigorously, a grin splitting her face and then embraced the dance like she was a finalist on Strictly Come Dancing, the showbiz smile never leaving her shiny, happy face. She told her Daddy afterwards that next time she wanted to be on a bigger stage. I’m thinking Hollywood obviously – why can’t she be the next UK A-lister? Proud? What do you think?
