Katherine Jenkins: ‘I want to give up career and raise a family’
Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins has revealed that she wants to give up her career and focus on having children.
Katherine Jenkins, 31, who is set to marry former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones, 33, has admitted that she’s willing up to give up her classical musical career in order to raise a family. The singer is one of the world’s biggest classical recording stars with an estimated fortune of £13 million.
“If you’re lucky enough to have kids, you want to enjoy it. I don’t want to compromise on that. I will make a decision to be a really good mum; that’s what I’d want to focus on,” she explained. “Hopefully, I would be able to come back afterwards. If I can’t, I’ll just enjoy being a mum.”
Katherine, who said she would rather be remembered as a family woman than a performer, added: “Honestly, family is so important to me. It’s much more important than my career.”
The former music teacher confessed she’s keen to step back from her hectic work schedule because she misses home too much.
“I have travelled the world several times in the past few years. I have six weeks at home now, which is the longest time in about three years. I miss so much of what’s going on,” she said.
