Not tonight, dear: is marriage bad for sex?

Walking down the aisle puts a downer on things in the bedroom, claims a new study. But is this really an excuse to cheat on your partner?

The sex poll was conducted by extramarital dating site, Loving Links, who surveyed 3,000 married couples on sex after marriage. They claim that 60% believe marriage has completely destroyed the excitement of having sex, and just under half admit that their relationship with their other half is more like friends than lovers.

A third of those polled no longer fancy their partners, while 80% of couples confessed to being stuck in a sex rut and only have sex at the same time, in the same place and in the same position every single time.

What’s more, two thirds of those who have had affairs owned up that the sex was incredible. A spokesperson for Loving Links said, ‘Unfortunately, while you can be deeply in love with someone and want to spend the rest of your life with them, it is also possible to want more from the relationship.

‘A partner might be supportive, funny, intelligent, and kind, but if they don't inspire confidence in the bedroom, or don't meet expectations sexually life can be frustrating. And it is at times like this when eyes start to wander, and folk start to think about having a no-strings affair with someone else.’
