Find out how Mum on the Run is coping juggling two children under five and working on a national magazine as deputy editor, which to be honest, is a welcome break in her hectic week..
Had the pleasure of interviewing the very charming Dr Christian Jessen for our forthcoming issue At Home with Dr Christian Jessen (on sale 22nd Feb). We met at the very plush The Langham Hotel just off Regent Street in London, and keen not to keep the doc waiting, I was quite a lot early. I’d arranged to meet him in the room where ‘tea is taken’ but my request for a table for two was met with a little bit of a flustered reaction from the waitress (are you still a waitress if you work in a posh hotel?). The room was packed with people staying in the hotel all chowing down on sumptuous looking breakfasts, so I had to wait to be seated behind a vast plant that completely obscured me from the world. Another waitress looked slightly worried when I ordered ‘coffee’ but became wreathed in smiles when I mentioned Americana, which I’d heard people order and thought it sounded like something The Langham would be au fait with. It’s a minefield pretending to be posh, I can tell you.
Then, as I settled in, I heard a deep voice from the other side of the plant forest and then saw through the foliage Dr C saying ‘he’d try the bar’. Panicked I leapt up and legged it after him. We’d met once before so luckily he recognised me, but seeing this slightly breathless, dishevelled looking woman waving at him from afar must have been a little bit disconcerting. I took him back to my abandoned table, having left all my belongings there strewn all over the table and we sat down. Luckily I regained my composure and the interview was a dream – what a lovely and interesting man he is. You can read what Dr CJ has to say in our At Home exclusive interview coming soon…

Mum on the Run lives life in the fast lane, but not in the traditional sense. In her spare time she is also deputy editor on At Home magazine, a job share, and looks forward to her peaceful days away from the children, writing features and interviewing At Home celebs. Read how she stumbles through the different stages of parenting, trying oh so very hard to get it even a bit right!
