Anyone who follows the trends of Hollywood knows that there are several unique characteristics in the way that Kate Winslet, (recent scooper of a Golden Globe for Best Actress in the TV series Mildred Pierce) dresses. No matter what she wears, there is an understated glamour about her that is quite fetching.
Kate is also a good role model, particularly for young women, because she dresses for her figure, and refuses to follow the fashion trends that come and go. One of her most basic outfits is a pair of simple blue jeans paired with a vest and smart jacket. Depending on the weather, a button up shirt may be used in place of a vest, and shorts may be used instead of jeans. The advantage of this outfit is that it is fast and easy. It is also suited to several different types of occasions.
Another casual look that Kate cultivates is the short skirt and jersey look. There is a schoolgirl feel to this look, and it definitely has a youthful effect. A red jersey and black skirt tend to work the best for this combination.

For example, at the 1998 Golden Globe Awards, Kate wore a see-through number that accentuated her bust, while at the 2002 Academy Awards, she wore a classic red number. Another red carpet look of Kate’s that can be copied cheaply is the summery outfit she wore at the Finding Neverland premiere at the 2004 Venice Film Festival. This outfit consisted of a powder blue butterfly dress, which was comprised of chiffon, and is worn in the halter fashion, designed by BCBGMAXAZRIA. The design on the dress is floral, which of course enhances the summery feel of the outfit. In terms of shoes, Kate wore the Noella model from the Ralph Lauren Collection. Like the above outlined red carpet outfit, the shoes in this outfit cost more than the dress. Large golden earrings from Argento Vivo, which are in the hoop style, complete the ensemble. Like any of the outfits mentioned here, jewellery and accessories can be culled from the person’s existing collection, as long as they look like what Kate wore.
