On the up
In the last year, the housing market seems to have recovered some of its stability. People are now getting on with their lives despite the recession and home improvement has been taken up with greater gusto than ever.
This is a great time to relearn some of the skills lost by our parents and grandparents as we all get down to the general maintenance of our homes not only to make them last longer and avoid larger costs in the long run but also because, in short, it saves us money.
My new series ‘Help My House Is Falling Down’ which is on air on Channel 4 in early summer is all about just this. People regaining the confidence to maintain their homes themselves, however severe the issues. In the last year I have also had my fourth (and final!) son, Laurie, so sadly there’s not much of me not pregnant in this series either!
