Trivia: Ryan got his screen break on the Mickey Mouse Club TV show as a child star alongside pop stars Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Unable to read at school, Ryan was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and placed in a special needs school. His mother left work to homeschool him.

Trivia: He lost 14kg in weight to play the role of hunger striker Bobby Sands in 2008 movie Hunger. Michael was restricted to just 600 calories a day.

Best known for: Playing Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell in The Wire.
