Best known for: Solid performances in Ides of March and Drive.

Career highlights: Academy Award nomination for Half Nelson. The man is on a roll – he has featured in six movies since 2010, including Crazy, Stupid, Love and Blue Valentine.

Trivia: Ryan got his screen break on the Mickey Mouse Club TV show as a child star alongside pop stars Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Unable to read at school, Ryan was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and placed in a special needs school. His mother left work to homeschool him.

Trivia: Damian was so convincing as an American in Band of Brothers, the crew couldn’t believe he was British.

Best known for: Starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and X-Men: First Class.

Career highlights: Bagging the Hero Award at the Jameson Empire Film Awards for his performance as Magneto in X-Men: First Class. Won the British Independent Film Award for his role in Hunger.

Trivia: He lost 14kg in weight to play the role of hunger striker Bobby Sands in 2008 movie Hunger. Michael was restricted to just 600 calories a day.

Coming soon: Fassbender will star in science fiction film, Prometheus, out now. He will be playing the role of an android named David.

Best known for: Playing Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell in The Wire.

Career highlights: Golden Globe Best Actor award for Luther.

Trivia: He won a place in the National Youth Music Theatre due to a £1,500 Prince’s Trust grant.
