Back to school

Summer is drawing to a close and thoughts are turning to the new term, with parents everywhere busy getting their kids ready to go back to school. New uniforms, bags, pencil cases and lunchboxes will all be on the cards, but what about security products?

Security products may not be the first thing that springs to mind when it comes to the new school term, but the fact is today’s children are carrying more expensive gadgets with them than ever before.

According to a recent survey*, smartphones are top of the list when it comes to back to school gadgets, with 59% of parents planning to buy their child a mobile phone. Tablets (22%), laptops (10%) and MP3 players (6%) were also on the list.

If your kids are getting ready for the new school year it is advisable to check your home insurance policy to ensure the contents of school bags are covered. It’s also worth investing in padlocks for bags and lockers. With figures from the Money Advice Service showing that youngsters take gadgets worth almost £1-billion to school every day, can you afford not to keep them secure?
